Guest Speakers
Recovery Professionals, Counselors, and Life Coaches
The speaker can be a professional in the addiction field such as a counselor, interventionist, etc. Please screen them ahead of inviting them to come to your meeting. Avoid individuals who are promoting a service, method of treatment, their own services, and/or controversial organization.
Please note they are not permitted to advertise their business at your meeting.
You may also consider using a pre-recorded PAL video that includes a counselor/therapist discussing a particular topic, these can be found on PAL’s YouTube channel.
Recovering Alcoholics/Addicts & Family
Please refer to the Facilitator Handbook you received from your initial training on guidelines for having a person in recovery as a guest speaker. Note: if there are other facilitators in your area consider asking them for recommendations.
Please be sure to use individuals that have significant time in recovery (at least one year, preferably longer).
PAL highly recommends you do not use loved ones of people from your own group; try to find someone neutral.
